February 11, 2026 - The Comal Education Foundation (CEF) is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year with a its largest fund-raising event to date, the 25th ‘Prost to Education’ Gala 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Wursthalle. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now on the district’s website.
“Since our founding, CEF has proudly championed teachers and students across Comal ISD,” says Steve Lyons, president of CEF. “As one of Texas’ fastest growing school districts, the need for educational support continues to rise, and we need everyone’s help to meet it.”
The location of this year’s gala and 25th anniversary celebration, Wursthalle, was chosen to pay tribute to the traditions that shaped Comal ISD. Just as Wurstfest is a symbol of community spirit and philanthropy, so too is the history of CEF.
For 25 years, CEF has supported teachers and students of Comal ISD through classroom grants, new teacher grants, student-focused programs, scholarships and districtwide initiatives.
As a recipient of three CEF grants, Tina Flores, a gifted and talented teacher at Indian Springs Elementary School, is grateful for the opportunity to continue to provide additional learning experiences to her students. Through the grants, she has purchased Lego Education Spike Essential and Spike Prime sets, Makerspace items such as Makey Makey invention kits, Snap Circuits kits and Sphero coding robots.
“These grants have truly changed the trajectory of my teaching and provided my students with access to technology that would not have been possible otherwise,” says Flores who has been teaching for 23 years. “They have opened the door to meaningful hands-on learning and rich critical-thinking opportunities. As a GT teacher, I am always seeking innovative ways to expand my students’ learning, and CEF grants have made that possible.”
To date, CEF has awarded more than $1.8 million in grants which directly impacts Comal ISD’s 30,000 students.
“We are inviting the entire community to join us in making this the biggest and best event in our history,” says Lyons. “Together, we can raise the bar for education and toast to 25 years of success.”
This year’s event will include both a silent and live auction with several commemorative 25th anniversary pieces available.
