Feb. 9, 2023 - Contractors Helping Kids (CHK) has partnered with the Comal Independent School District to help graduating seniors walk the stage in a new graduation cap, gown and stole.
Connie Phillips with CHK stopped by the district’s Support Services office today to finalize the donation of around $800.
“We are happy to help graduating seniors by purchasing a cap and gown for their big day,” says Phillips, who explained that CHK is a non-profit organization based in Spring Branch established to help children.
Comal ISD student support coordinator Diane Quiroga explained that every year, the district reaches out to the community for assistance in purchasing graduation attire for students who are unable to make the purchase themselves.
Herff Jones, the company which sells the caps and gowns, also donates some to each campus, Quiroga says.
Today’s donation will help a few more students, but more may be needed. If anyone is interested in partnering with Comal ISD to purchase graduation caps and gowns or to help in other areas, please contact, the district’s partnerships coordinator Chelsea Ormond at [email protected].
